Green-up your house…with greenery…for very little green!
Inhabitots » Green Your Nursery… With Plants!.
Yes, yes…we all hear about how the air inside of our homes is waaayy more polluted than the air outside. But what do you do about it??
The folks over at “Inhabitots” have a handy little post about the benefits of adding houseplants to your indoor decor. Not only do they bring the outdoors in and add some gorgeous life to your house (especially with some amazing planters you can find out there – check back for my “Favorites” list of great planters!) they help combat “Sick Building Syndrome” by sucking up the harmful chemicals in your air (carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, etc.) and recycling it into clean, fresh oxygen – sooo good for the lungs.
They also round up the top 5 plants that NASA and Parent Center list for air purifying, but are also child-safe.
1. Chlorophytum Comosum aka Spider Plant
2. Sansevieria aka Snake Plant
3. Dracaena fragrans `Massangeana’ aka Corn Plant
4. Epipiremnum Aureum aka Golden Pothos
5. Aglaonema Modestum aka Chinese Evergreen
So there you have it – an easy way to green up your house (in more ways than one!) for very little green! Now head down to your local nursery/home depot/grocery store – wherever you might snag a plant, and don’t forget your list!
Check back soon for my favorite indoor planters!

I’m not too sure about this…an interesting idea – but not for a classic mid century modern – iconic – chair like these!! Maybe for a knockoff??
Here is what they should look like:

This blog is awesome!! I’m always noticing sets and interior design in movies (I’m always thinking about the actor, too, and how embarrassing that scene must’ve been!) and I’m always looking up photos on the internet or pressing ‘pause’ on the DVR (and taking notes…sometimes…). But not anymore!! Thanks to Julia at “Hooked on Houses!!” I am so excited…
Amanda’s (aka Cameron Diaz) house in L.A. in “The Holiday” is THE REASON I DECIDED TO PAINT MY LIVING ROOM GRAY. Not even a joke. My house is obviously nowhere nearly as finished or styled as hers (I love the pots of grass and artwork all over), and I’ve strayed from the concept since then, but I LOVE the color palette; gray, cream, espresso with little shots of color here and there.
That would be my dream house!! Well…one of them…

Raise your hand if you got that joke. Anyone?? Okay, the secret is out. I love slapstick comedy. I can quote tons of stupid movies. We quote them ALL THE TIME! But at least Glenn and I can laugh about it together. And I use the smiley face icon wwwwaaayyy too much! See: ![]()
I’d like to make a post about my love of table lamps. I am so excited to see who won the Shade Shop table lamp giveaway from This Young House!! I entered, did you?? And did I mention that I also love floor lamps, and pendant lamps, and wall sconces. But this post is specifically to round up a few of my fav’s. I simply went to all of the good ol’ stand by retail stores, and picked my favorites. Do you see a theme (besides the fact that I’m CHEAP!)? I’m not sure if I do – except for the fat-bottom shape, and square shades, but I’d love to hear from you and see what you think!!
And we got these puppies at Wal-Mart of all places! Glenn chose the black shades…I was being indecisive. Thanks, honey! Great choice!
