Oh yeah…
…I bet you thought I forgot that this blog was supposed to be about interior design and decorating. Hmmm…well here are some things we’ve been up to lately around here.
I found these beauties at the local antique store, I had a gift certificate, so they came home with me! And this is exactly how I found them…with slightly worn paint and tarnished hooks. They make me happy.

One for each of us!

These are hanging in our “dining room.” Although it’s really one big space with the living room. And the other major change in the dining room is with our dining table! We’ve wanted to refinish it ever since we pulled it out of the barn about a year and a half ago, and with being stuck inside for what seemed like months this past (freezing and rainy spring), my husband decided to go ahead and refinish it one day. Just like that! He used some ‘ebony’ stain that we already had on the table and bench tops, and instead of sanding and staining the legs, he decided to use some leftover wall paint that matches the living room walls. Which is Benjamin Moore ‘Ashley Gray.’ Enjoy!

Afters!

I love the variations in the stain!

It’s much more “us” now and we really love it! It’s amazing what some stain and paint can do, even with a “log-cabin” style table, and it can turn it into something much more contemporary. I hope you like it, too!

I interrupt my normal schedule of attempting to blog these photos in order, but this post couldn’t wait. We’re having a BOY!!!!!!!!!! We are beyond thrilled and can’t wait for Harper to meet her little brother.
I’m still kind of in shock…obviously it’s a 50/50 chance but we really, really, really wanted a boy and cannot believe that there’s a little dude in there. Over the moon excited.
I know, I know…if it was a girl, that would have been just as exciting (especially for Harper – a girl needs sisters, right?!), and all that matters is that the baby is healthy, but I am full on admitting that we hoped and wished and prayed for a little boy. And since he is a HE, my gender guilt can just go away, ha!
What about you guys? Was the gender no big deal for your baby, or were you like me and could not wait for that mid-point ultrasound because the anticipation was KILLING you? It felt like Christmas in July (to us) when that day finally came!
I have to admit, though, after the ultrasound we went to the doctor’s waiting room (because I had a regular prenatal appointment right after) and there was a magazine on the table with a certain female celebrity on the cover, whose name we chose as our girl’s name, and I felt a little sad that I’m probably never going to get to name my girl that. Because it would have been awesome. And I totally had vivid pregnancy dreams about having a baby girl and in my dream I told everyone her name after she was born. :)
Thanks for reading!
Oh…you want to know my girl name? :) Her name would have been Bryce Pearl. So the actress Bryce Dallas Howard was on the cover of the magazine…and my grandpa used to call me Lindsay Pearl, so that’s where the middle name came from. Bryce the girl…I really, really liked it. But we’ll have our boy in a few short months, so I’ll get over it!

I think I’m laughing because this “baby” had a little butt crack – cute! So…this was taken in the middle of May, right after I ate a GIANT burrito. So the bump is part baby/uterus, and part burrito. I love those burritos…if you live or work in Alturas, you know where they’re from. Yum. I basically live on steak burritos and Subway Veggie Delight sandwiches, when I’m not eating leftovers, for my workweek lunches.
Anyway – here are the 10 Weeks Pregnant photos! The baby was the length of an apricot or similar fruit – about 3 inches – from crown to rump (not counting the legs).

Again, it was windy and rainy and COLD! Very typical for the May 2011 weather in Alturas.

Doesn’t it have the cutest little butt cheeks?

Grape/Tomato {9 Weeks}
Okay…this is the last time I apologize for being such a bad blogger…but I gotta do it. Because I suck. And I appreciate you reading. It’s been a month and a half since I posted anything, but I promise I have excuses! For one…this pregnancy is kicking my butt. I’m currently at 18 (almost 19) weeks, and I need to remind myself that I’m not even half way done yet! Because I seem to be experiencing every symptom in the book this time, and things are getting difficult. Things like sleeping, sitting, standing and breathing. Holy moly. Maybe it’s because I’m 30???? Damn you, aging…damn you! I have other excuses, but I actually want to put that into a blog post – and hopefully it won’t take me a month to write it!
So…these photos were from (forever ago) the day of my very first doctor’s appointment (that I brought my two year old to, ha! No, I did not have an exam that day, hehe!). But I love that she’s in them, and that she loves to climb on my back and hug me.
And I was just starting to get a noticeable little bump! Well, noticeable to others…I could tell at 5 weeks!
I love this little girl. Seriously. On another note, I cannot possibly imagine sharing that love with another child. I know it will just happen, but how can I love *two* like I love her?!?! Impossible. At least it seems that way right now…she is my little buddy, and she is so smart and so precious to me it makes my heart just about explode!
It was very windy that day!
I heard the baby’s heartbeat that day. Amazing that you can hear it on something soooo small! Pregnancy is just a mind-blowing experience. So that reminds me…instead of complaining about my sore back, I just tell myself that I am lucky to be so fertile and to be bringing a healthy, loved child into this world! And he or she just has to cook a little longer…I can do it…
