:Note to self:
Must buy red mirror and chair. Or at least add my red accessories that I mentioned here last month! How gorgeous is this house?
Holly over at decor8 mentioned Lori’s work (aka the 10 Cent Designer), but I’ve seen it somewhere before!! I might have run across her flickr page (I can’t remember when or where I saw these photos!) but I’m kicking myself for not talking about her first, ha! Kidding, but again, more inspiration for me…plus Holly has an actual relationship with her, and she interviewed her, etc. I’m just a baby-blogger, but someday hope to reach that level of respect and collaboration! Thanks again, ladies!!

I ran across this nifty website that lets you design “sets” using products online. Sooo fun! A lot of people put together some really amazing fashion sets, there are contests you can enter, and it is a great way to put a mock-up together. This one only took me 8 hours. Kidding! But this is what I would love my bedroom to look like some day (and don’t forget to call it a favorite on the site!!):

Now head on over there and create some sets!

Here is a project I’m working on which includes paint and accessory consultations for a living/dining room and two bedrooms (master bedroom and children’s bedroom). This is the first mock-up for the living/dining room, so we’ll see what they think! The client has a newly purchased large (very large) curving sectional sofa, as well as a large (very large) big-screen TV on a newly purchased entertainment center. The sofa is a medium brown suede, which she has accented with red pillows and asked me to incorporate. She wants a red accent wall, which I chose as the dining room wall with the window (you can see it in the “before” shot below), and possibly down the hallway as one wall of it comes out and is visible in the living room. As for the main wall paint, I chose a light mustardy-white (very neutral, but bright) to lighten up the room, which has very poor lighting. I chose an IKEA floor lamp to place behind the couch, but as you can see from the mock-up, it would come over the back of the couch and act as an overhead light. I am recommending some neutral, patterned window coverings to coordinate with the square-patterned area rugs that the client already owns and wishes to incorporate, as well as light colored (washable) slipcovers for the dining room chair to coordinate with the IKEA lamp.

Orla Kiely for Target!
So after doing a little research, I’ve realized I’m a little behind on this, but hey – I discovered it all on my own in my March 2009 issue of Elle Decor! Anyway, I’m flipping through, passing the usual super-high-end ads (swooning, but knowing that it could never be), when my eyes catch some beautifully bright, retro patterns on a set of coffee mugs and I notice that red bulls-eye that I know and love! It’s an ad for Orla Kiely’s dining, kitchen and storage collections coming soon to Target! I try to go to the website from the ad (www.target.com/orlakiely) but it just redirects me to the main home page. The only thing I can find actually on their website of hers is this little cutie:
Apparently the whole she-bang will be there soon, but how cute is this!?!?! And at Target!! Pronounced Tar-jay…it’s fancy, right? :) Unfortunately when I checked tonight, it was sold out. Hmmm…but anyway! Target is stepping up the design quotient, and I couldn’t be happier! Check these out:
Alright…now I’ll go back to my mourning over my beloved Domino.

I found this how-to on a cute ‘lil design blog and I thought it was such a great idea for a gift or to decorate a little girl’s room. Thank you, Lindsay!

11 More Months Until Christmas!
I miss Christmas. I love my home (we purchased it in July 2008) – and we’ve been working very, very hard on it to make it finished but I think Christmas hid what we had left to do on it! We took Christmas decorations down a few weeks ago and now the house feels too bare. My main living area color scheme consists of medium gray walls, dark brown wood laminate floors and touches of green, ivory, black, shades of brown, and a little blue. I’ve realized that I miss the red from Christmas. I think that it would be a nice shot of color with the gray, black and white. What do you think? I might invest in a set of red pillows, and on the opposite end of the room I want to get some black frames for black and white photos – and I’ll mat them in red! And I’m in desperate need of some side tables, so I’m thinking some simple IKEA Lack ones (in red, of course!).
